With the amazing support from Away Bali Legian and GM Evan Burns, it has ensured our IndoKick program continues to grow AFL in Bali. The use of their hotel car to courier the young Balinese players to training has been invaluable, and sponsoring the Indonesian senior players to travel and play in our international matches. Never before have we seen so many local players playing together in AFL Asia. Not only do we teach AFL, but our IndoKick coordinator Dayu also offers English classes to IndoKick children and their parents in Denpasar.
In this year’s Bali Masters, for the first time, there will be an all-Indonesian team, the Volcanoes, playing in the 35s division. On Saturday morning, there will be a junior exhibition match with our younger local Indonesian juniors, their first official game. Come down and watch them in action.
Our long term objective is to grow the participation numbers playing AFL football, and produce more senior players in our men’s and women’s Geckos teams. Our dream is to see one of our Indonesians from the IndoKick program progress to the AFL and AFLW pathway.
