Women's Team

The Bali Geckos women’s team came to life in 2019 as the first AFLW team in Indonesia. After the men’s team had been a well-known team in Bali, the women were ready to bring on their own. Led by President Nikki Dillon, the team picked up speed quickly. COVID hit early in 2020, so the first international match was cancelled, but the women’s numbers made it possible for the men and women to keep training during that time. That time helped to unify the 2 teams.
We have players of all ages and athletic abilities who are from all over the world. While it is a sport born in Australia, we have women from Indonesia, Ireland, Basque, France, Canada, Russia, USA, and more! This diverse group has made for a very special social group, some of who like to come out just for training and others who like to compete against our opponents in AFL Asia.
We have hosted countless international teams for matches in Bali, as well as traveled to play. We have participated in 4 AFL Asia Championships, and in the most recent, finished 2nd in our division.

It’s a great way to meet a great group of females in Bali whether you live here or are here on holiday and want to get a kick in! In season, we train at 5pm in Buduk, which is near Canggu. Come down and join us!
